Hours of Operation
Morrinsville Kids is open for five days a week Monday to Friday from 7.15am – 5.30pm except for Public Holidays. We request you respect this licensed time and drop off and pick up within these hours. In the event of an emergency please contact the centre so staff can allay your child's concerns and make plans for their own commitments.
Hours of Enrolment
Part time – 6.5 hour session - between 8:00am and 3:30pm
Full time 7+ hours per day – between 7.15-5.30 – you can book the hours that suit you and you only pay for the hours booked. [unless you are late then there is a late fee charge of $25 per 10 minutes]
Settling in
To ensure the best Transition for your child we encourage you and your child to visit several times before leaving them in our care. This ensures a positive beginning for your child. There is no charge for these sessions while a parent or caregiver is present. Detailed discussions on your child’s development, behaviour, sleeping and eating requirements are held on the enrolment day. Many children are happily settled within the first day but all children have different comfort levels. We are flexible as some children take a longer time in settling than others.
Dropping and Picking up your child
To ensure the safety of your child it is essential that you bring them into the centre each day and sign them in as you leave the centre having settled them into an activity or left them with a teacher. At the end of the day upon your child’s departure you must sign them out – this is a Ministry of Education requirement as well as assisting us in the event of an emergency.
We are only able to release your child/ren into the care of the adults you have listed on the enrolment form – or to an adult you have nominated in writing and whom we can clearly identify prior to allowing them to collect your child. A form of photographic identification will be required for adults whom we don’t recognise. Children under the age of 14 will not be permitted to collect your child.
Emergency Closure
On occasions situations arise that lead to the emergency closure of the centre. Some events such as loss of power and water may lead the Ministry of Education to require us to close. Extreme weather conditions may also force us to close on a rare occasion. In the event of such and emergency closure, it will be necessary for you to collect your child from the centre. Full fees are payable for up to three days if the centre is subject to emergency closure – however you may wish to utilise you ‘holiday discount’ in such times [terms and conditions apply – see fee schedule].
Personal Items
Each child needs to have at least one change of clothes in their bag – ideally more, especially if they are toilet training. Children also need to bring a named sunhat for the summer months and a warm hat, jacket and gumboots for the winter. Please make sure that all your child’s clothing is named so that if it has been ‘misplaced’ we will be able to return it to you. Your child will be encouraged from a very early age to take responsibility for their personal belongings. Staff will support this and make every endeavour to collect up and return found items – however the centre cannot be responsible for lost personal items bought into the centre.
Excursions and Trips
We recognise the importance of providing a variety of experiences for children. Planned and spontaneous excursions stimulate children’s understanding and awareness of our community. It is essential that these excursions are planned for and carried out in a manner that promotes safety for the children and teachers.
Spontaneous walks in the community will be part of the centre activities. For local walks, general permission will be obtained in the enrolment form. Parents/caregivers will be informed if the children have been on a walk by written information on the day sheet and white board.
For planned excursions, a note to parents will be put out as early as possible to give parents as much notification as we can. Parents will have the opportunity to give or deny consent for each trip – we may also need to have some parents come on the trip to support ratios and also experience the learning opportunities with their child.
